I'll stand and fall (and on occasion fall over) by the tabi boots. Ive been likened to a ninja rhino.

Most historical ninja weren't sixteen stone blonde guys, that goes without saying

Hi guys, I have been checking the Windhammer site for some time now, but it is getting fairly late in the year and I have not seen any updates; does anyone know what the status of the competition is at the moment? Robert and Tammy, I think you guys may have your ears closer to the ground than I do, and I'm hoping you may know!

Hi Stuart, thanks for the heads up regarding Freakonomics. And to A.E.Johnston, I'm only going by last year's lack of entries, otherwise I've no idea what's happening regards Windhammer. I can't speak for Wayne nor his gaming schedule. Sorry to say I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to events within RPG circles. Perhaps Andy or Wayne might shed some light on future competitions? Let's hope it continues - although I won't be entering this year.

I'm also wondering if there will be further publications regards Wizard's FF series. Blood of the Zombies was the last gamebook title. An additional note, I do know that Sorcery! is now available as an online gamebook, with an explorable map and sound effects. You can also find other gamebooks on Steam (so it seems the genre hasn't completely died out regards new material).

Ian Livingstone will shortly be publishing Port of Peril

WHAT! Are you sure? Sounds great! 'Port of Peril', eh? It's hard to believe that Ian Livingstone - high up the gaming mogul ladder - still finds time to turn up with a new gamebook every now and then. But Steve Jackson has moved on to new things, it seems.

Yeah he's on my Facebook (as are Liz Hand, Martin Millar and various other cult authors)

Windhammer did not happen last year because of lack of entries. It is not happening this year because of Wayne having RL stuff.

Scholastic is reprinting some FF books (with new art!) and also a new book, Port of Peril. It should be out on 2nd August, but WH Smiths has accidently started selling them already, so if you are near a Smith's it will be good to pop in to see if they are there.

I have to laugh looking back at Outsider. 23 and my only love in life was gone. Later relationships hurt me vastly worse.

Looked on Amazon - The Port of Peril is available for pre-order, published on 2nd August.

Friendly reminder to all: there happens to be a novel by Otis Adelbert Kline with the same name (The Port of Peril). Unless you want both, be careful not to buy the wrong one.

Good to know, thanks, bcyy

It would be a fortunate accident if somebody did order that novel by mistake and actually enjoyed it.

Travelling Man are also selling them at the moment

@Tammy:
You're welcome. :-)

@Gavin:
Don't feel too bad about it - most of us here have never even had a relationship. I'm still in the denial phase after the last rejection I suffered back in 2015.

@All:
I think I'll delay ordering TPOP for a while. Between Grav Waves being discovered, quantum encryption being found to actually work, Alpha Go mastering my favourite board game, and the technologies involved in the modernisation of the Russian Kirov fleet, the real world seems quite interesting at the moment. We seem to be at the watershed of a major technological revolution. The world 50 years from now will be very different from what we are seeing today, if we can just take sufficient advantage of these new developments.

It does amaze me that by pulp sci fi standards I'm Casanova, I suppose the dark handsome wallet counts for a lot. Here I stand in Tolmin for Metaldays with only my Athame MOURNBLADE between me and THOUSANDS of Satanic witches and black metal fans. Same old magick assassin, same old Magick Scheisse!

"Scheisse"?

As in Deutsch fuer "sh*t" im Inglisch? Sie Sprechen Deutsch, richtig?

Ich spreche MANDO'ADE, darlings! Spanish is the only one I find difficult.

Hey, English. The world speaks English and if they don't, they ought to.
