For all those who miss the Windhammer competition, come to my blog on the 3rd October where I will announce the first Lindenbaum Prize for short gamebook fiction. http://www.lloydofgamebooks.com
Really good game! The atmosphere and exploration of the time period are excellent, perhaps more appealing than the horror itself. I've played it a few times and I just wish there were maybe checkpoints or something, so you could complete the story without having to restart from scratch after every death.

@Tammy I was planning on just finishing it myself, but if there is any interest, I would love to complete it as I started it as a group effort. I want to finish Rulers of the NOW first and then I will work on that.
Ugh killed by Darm's lightning bolt. Man that's a long way to go to not finish. What could I have done different. Was there something that gave me a better attack strength than minus 2? sheesh! lol

I'm just wondering: do you think it would be a good idea to have a 'Gamebook Solutions' section? Perhaps one that covers all known FF gamebooks, published and fan-written? I do know that there used to be some listed in the old FF.com website, these gave the correct entry numbers/choices.
Man what's the correct steps to make the substance? I found where they each load, but by the time I gather them all, while leaving the camp totally undefended, I'm dead.
SPOILER
I first go to the metal wreck, then the tower, then the salt marsh, then the mountain for the final ingredient. Seems like that should be everything, but what am I missing?
you have found ALL allies along the way. Even if you just miss one, it's an automatice failure! If you want to try playing through it again, let me know how you get on. I'm not sure if it would be an idea for a 'solutions' section to be included on the FFProject. They do exist online for the published series of gamebooks.
I always wind up dying at the church of ST Paul and ST Peter. Question, how do I set up a spoiler so it doesn't show? Thanks. Btw, I love this gamebook! :)
I am replaying the hell outta this one as I can't seem to get it right. And the simple fact that its a ton of fun! Thanks. Advice, what's the best skill to learn in my new princess's body? I keep choosing royal family history as I feel I need that to impress a group of robe wearing crazies. Ok I'm being harsh, but I hope, vague? :P Any general hints would be appreciated and would save me a ton of clicks.
Really good. The writing was better than most and while you did need to do a number of things to actually win, there's more logic than the usual "check everything or die" nonsense too many of these books fall into.
I also like there are numerous fail endings where the protagnist gets away unharmed instead of all but one road leading to death.
I found 3 gold coins in a machine, fought a minotaur and took its horn, used the horn to summon a skeleton boatman, paid the boatman a gold coin to ferry me across the lake, found iron spikes and a mallet, followed a spiral pattern leading to a pearl but then got burned twice when attempting to escape, ran away from cave trolls, used the mallet and spikes to bar the door and lock them on the other side, climbed through a vent, and then got poisoned to death by spiders. Good stuff! I will try this again to see if I can get a better ending :)
