Hi Stuart,
Gamebooks for this comp must be written in the 12 months prior to the submission deadline for 2009. The competition timetable allows for a development period up to the 1st of September. Check the Windhammer Prize page for the full competition timetable. Unlike last year I have given a much longer development period, one that should allow any prospective entrants the time to put something together. I look forward to your entry.

Hi,
The rules for the Winhammer competition claim that all entries must be in rich text format. Much to my shame I am afraid I'm a little confused as to what it actually is. Can anyone clarify a little? Thanks
This explains everything : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_text_format. I don't know what word processor you are using, but if it is Word you can save a file in rich text format by selecting File > Save As and choosing Rich Text Format from the "Save as type" drop-down box.

Hi All,

Voting has now commenced for the 2009 Windhammer Prize for Short Gamebook Fiction. Seven titles have been accepted for this year's competition and all are available for free download from http://www.arborell.com/windhammer_prize_2009_entries.html
The Windhammer prize is about promoting new gamebook authors and expanding the gamebook genre, and this year's submissions do not dissapoint. From diabolical hospital stays to the not so ordinary Wild West to ancient Mythology, these gamebooks show what can be done with interactive adventures and underline the creative energy of the authors themselves. Voting continues until the 30th of October with winners being announced on the 7th of November.

Have your say and vote for the entry you believe should claim the Windhammer Prize for 2009.

Hi all,

Just a short post to let everyone on the guestbook know that the Windhammer Prize for 2009 has proved a great success. Per Jorner won the prize with his entry, The Bone Dogs, and Merit awards were won by Kieran Coghlan and Alec Worley for their respective gamebooks, Waiting for the Light, and the Garden of Bones.

Thanks to everyone on the list who participated, whether it be as an author or voter.

All gamebook entries from the competition can now be accessed permanently in a Gamebook Archive that can be found at arborell.com.

Sorry about the lateness of this notification. I was sure I had put up a note here on the 7th but I must have had some kind of mental break as I cannot seem to find it.

Arborell.com is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2010 Windhammer Prize for Short Gamebook Fiction is Stuart Lloyd for his impressive pirate adventure, Sharkbait's Revenge. Merit awards have also been won by Zachary Carango for his sci-fi adventure, Red World, and Ashton Saylor for his modern-day fantasy entry, The Gates of Heaven and Hell. Congratulations go to all who have been successful in this year's competition and a sincere thankyou to the authors of the entries that did not find success.

2010 has been a year of growth for the Windhammer Prize, the quality and diversity of the entries exceptional, the interest from readers greater than in all previous years. More than 1240 downloads of entries were made over the course of the voting period and the number of votes forwarded more than doubled those received in 2009. It has been both a busy and satisfying time for the competition sponsor and this can be attributed in the main to the quality and originality of the entries submitted.

I would like to thank everyone who submitted entries and to the many readers who took the time to download those works and forward their votes. It is greatly appreciated. At this time I would also like to invite all who enjoy gamebooks to consider entering the 2011 competition. If you are an author who wishes a competitive environment to promote your work then this is the competition for you.

May Glory and Renown follow all who have found success here.
