I would like to extend an invitation to everyone on the guestbook to join a new Chronicles of Arborell yahoo group that I have started. The group has two particular points of interest. The first is as a news and discussion point for the Chronicles of Arborell, a gamebook series of great interest to myself, and secondly as a meeting place for authors and readers interested in digitally based gamebook titles and the possibilities developing for gamebook authors with the emergence of hand-held digital devices such as the ipod and iphone.

There is a wealth of great gamebooks to be found here and it would be exciting to have some of the talent that created them participating in the discussions to come at the group.

The group name is chroniclesofarborell and the url is: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/chroniclesofarborell/

I hope to see you there.

As a final word I would also like to remind anyone intending to vote in this year's Windhammer Prize that voting closes on the 30th of October.

Regards
Wayne Densley

Hi Gaetano. Oh cool, I live in the UK, England to be precise. I was just curious because your name is an uncommon one. Anyway, I hope you can put something together in the not too distant future and upload it for online play to this website. In my opinion your writing is exceptional and I thoroughly enjoyed both house of horror and of course soul tracker.

Alien is a classic, definitely.

Both of my parents are from Italy, but I've spent my life in the United States (Los Angeles area, where I still reside).

Hi Gaetano. Wow, so few words and already your motivated, perhaps all you needed was the final nudge to get the ideas flowing? *smile*. I'll check out the film Moon of course, but if you've ever seen alien the original motion picture then I'm sure that'll give you a couple more ideas as well as hopefully a sleepless night or too hehehehe. Incidentally, which country do you reside in?

Hi all! Thanks for the extra books. They're great. I'm writing a blog - my musings on writing a gamebook. Check it out and leave feedback.

Thanks for the ideas, Phil! On a somewhat related note- anyone see the film Moon? It came out last year. I highly recommend it.

In which case I advise you to watch Event Horizon and Pandorum, both of which should give you a few nice ideas!

All right, you've motivated me. I have a seed of an idea that's been swilling around in my head about a story set in space with some horror elements. Maybe I'll start tapping the keyboard and see what comes out. It might take a few months, however.

Hi Gaetano. Well, all I can hope for is that you do something along similar lines to Soul Tracker, perhaps a sequel or a spin off or something entirely different, perhaps an adventure set aboard a spaceship maybe? Anyway thanks for Soul Tracker and house of horror, I'll be keeping a keen ear out for anything new you produce.

Thanks for the kind words, Ibrahim. I've thought about writing another adventure, although I'm not sure where I would go with it. I do like trying things out that I haven't done before. The most recent thing I did (along with several other authors on this site) was pen a fantasy adventure for the Iphone http://www.gamebookadventures.com "Slaves of Rema" was a really fun experience.

However, to keep up my writing practice, I may very well write up something else and submit it to The Fighting Fantasy Project. Not sure if I'll stick with fantasy, or do something Sci-Fi, or horror, or something such as Soul Tracker that combines several genres.

Hi Gaetano, I really really enjoyed Soul Tracker, that was a fantastic story. Are you going to produce any more titles along a similar vein? I like the macho motorcycle rider theme, big guys with big guns saving the city or whatever, sort of reminds me of the mad max movies if you've watched those.

I just wanted to say I enjoy the stories on this site. I was just wondering if there was any other sites just like this.

Hellfire
Hi, love the site and all of the gamebooks here!

I have a quick question about a difference between the online version of Hellfire versus the original Word document:

It sounds like a mistake on my part. I will look into it.

Thanks for the reply, Phil!

Regarding my ROTS query (the fairies) I probably should have mapped out every possible scenario before asking you the question I did. As I'm sure you know, however, once one discovers what feels like the true path, one is hesitant to go exploring all the potential dead-ends.. especially when there is potentially much, much more in the game to contend with! :)

Regarding the Trinitour in Riders of the Storm:

Like I said, difficult.. yes. Rip-your-hair-out at times.. yes. Ultimately satisifying.. a resounding Yes!

You got quite a few repeat reads from me and, let's face it, at the root of it all, isn't that what every writer wants? I think your stories warranted it.

And, last but not least.. (and I'll try to be brief here if anyone's still reading my overly verbacious post)..

I bought a PS3 about a year ago. It's still in the box. I was thinking about bringing it out and giving it a go a few days before I discovered this site. Thanks to this site (and specifically Phil's and Gaetano's stories), it's still sitting in that box. I think, in this day and age, that says something. You deserve a high amount of credit.. and by virtue of that, many other writers at this site are guaranteed to have their works looked at by me.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the very nice compliments Clive!

As for your ROTS queries:

As for the Trinitour, well ... I have no real excuses :-(

As for Hellfire - there is no clue to the girl's riddle and I realise now that it's one of the book's flaws. As for the inclusion of all of the red herrings, that's just me being evil.

Glad you liked the books because not everyone does ;-)

House Of Horror
Have to agree with Zefiris.. House of Horror was a joy to read. It really took me back to the time I read House of Hades (the American title, at the time, and I believe the last FF book I ever bought) and how thrilled I was that a FF story could take place in a conventional setting and still capture your imagination.

Hellfire
Wow, it took some doing, but I completed Hellfire and its sequel Riders of the Storm! (And not without pouring over this guestbook for a few hints I might add!) I'd really like to take this opportunity to thank you, Mr. Phil Sadler, for creating a couple of works that greatly decreased the amount of stress I took home from my work by virtue of your enmeshing me in your imagination, prose and craftsmanship. It's been stated a few times before in this guestbook but I feel it bears repeating.. creating a fighting fantasy story can't be easy and, even then, it's purveyed to relatively few people. Yet, you poured alot of heart and soul into the endeavours, and for that you get a nice warm smile from me.

If you should read this, I have just a couple of questions and comments for you.

Regarding ROTS..

Regarding Hellfire:

All in all, a very engaging few weeks. Thanks, again!
