Knowing that you already have a coded message on the Data Tablet, when you see the code key on the data square the connection can be made.

Hope you enjoyed the adventure. The Golden Crate is definitely the best of the series so far, but Episode 7 which I am working on now should be highly enjoyable, and will certainly be long...
I did like the fact that you actually had to use the data tablet once you solved the square, but I only found that through a wrong press in the locker area. Just wondering, how are you supposed to know that first time through?
Okay looking back at previous posts, I gather I just go to the escape pods with

a blaster, the straight jacket and the chip. I know what all these items do, but the only way to find the code for the crate is to go with the pirates. So unless I can go back twice, then I can't get all the items I'll need.
So I gather I'm supposed to either fight the captain, or kill the pirate then go back to the ship? How do I know the code for locker 42? No matter what I try it won't open.
The purpose of going back is to enable you to get all of the items from the ready room and the captain's pockets. To succeed in this gamebook you must open the Golden Crate while in transit to Amorphonon 12. Collecting all of the items from the Golden Stream before it crashes will allow you to do this.
The time machine is located on a secret research level. To get the option to go there, you need to talk to the vending machine with the right order of topics to bring up the subject of time travel. In terms of when to go back in time, you have only one opportunity to do it, so once you have finished exploring the crashed ship, go back in time.
To go back in time you need to get the code from the safe in the captain's ready room next to the bridge of the crashed ship. To open the safe you need to have a blaster.
In the Golden Crate, I'm stuck. I took the escape pod myself, and found that weird ship with the frog people. From reding the text version, I gather there's some sort of time traveling I have to do. What am I supposed to be doing? this after I got pwned by a giant dinosaur
You could make the story about a teen working with the German or Belgian resistance movement during World War 2. If it were me writing the story, I'd have the teen be an innocent looking schoolgirl, have her actually attend school at times, and have her have blonde hair and blue eyes, due to the Nazis' propensity to attribute those features to the Arian race that they were trying to create. Then I'd have the girl be betrayed by someone she trusted, someone higher up on the resistance chain than she was, have her become a prisoner of war, things like that. Luck and sanity scores could be added in to see whether or not she could withstand the torture the Nazis would doubtless subject her to. It would definitely be interesting. Let me know what you guys think.
