Nye's Song
Hey Robert -- don't take these things to heart. I thought it was a great read.

Nye's Song
I've just come across Ashton Saylor's comments about Nye's Song. Very grim indeed. I was all set for entering Windhammer 2013 - but now I'm no longer interested. What's the point if I'm going to be attacked on all sides for writing a fun adventure?

I'll still be sending Sean Calibre Book 2 to this site if that's okay. I know this to be a friendly site that offers honest, constructive criticism. Also, I'm no longer interested in the Fighting Fantasy Forum. A writer's self-esteem is eroded by blunt single sentences.

Windhammer Competition
Ashton Saylor is currently going through a critique of all the 2012 Windhammer entries here:

@C-Star,

'The One Game'. Google Stephen Dillane and you'll find this credited within his acting career. One of his first acting roles. Also known for the Midland Bank advert, 1987.

I'm interested now. Where did that quote come from?

Hi, my name is Hugo, and i began doing a similar project in Brazil, in the middle of 2011. At the time, i didn't know about other online projects of online gamebooks, and i was surprised when i found that website. I began doing some tests with original gamebooks, but my idea was to make contact with independent writters of fighting fantasy like stories. I want to know if anyone is interested to have a story adapted to a portuguese version to be shown in my website project. If anyone is interested, my contact is: hugokt2005@yahoo.com.br

Thanks

Rebels Of The Dark Chasms
I remember the junction, but not which one is right. One had a jump that you-know-who cannot do. She just dies. That option is wrong. Anyway, i think what happened is...

I don't remember that well - it's been about a year since I last fell into the lava and made a rage quit.

Hellfire
Thanks C-Star, I did end up getting the scroll from killing that lady. Unfortunately, I don't have the attention span to go all the way back to the Hellfire part -_- I guess I'll take a break from that and try and easier one for now...

It's been a while ( about 7 months actually) since I won that, so memory's a bit fuzzy. How do you keep dying? I vaguely remember

Rebels Of The Dark Chasms
@C-Star:

Really? Does that mean you completed Rebels Of The Dark Chasms? I didn't, and I'm pretty sure I've exhausted all permutations of choices. How did you do it?

I keep dying in the chase after breaking the alpha female character out of prison, providing that the lava section doesn't get me before that.

By the way, I agree that Hellfire is pretty hard - I only managed to beat it by reverse engineering a solution from the word version.

Hellfire
Hellfire is hands down the hardest book on this site. It's ridiculously (some would say retardly) difficult. I never won it, gave up after death number 20. But as for your question, I can be of some help.

I've never done it myself, that's just from stuff I heard on the board here over time. So if someone more accomplished could elaborate on it further, that'd be nice.

...I really should try again at some point.

Hellfire
Hey, just finished Midnight Deep. I gotta say that it was a pretty amazing story, and a real challenge. Now, I'm playing through Hellfire which is coincidentally just as hard. Now I'm stuck at this part that has a few options, but all lead to death. It's page 386, where you must pass through Hellfire. Anyone know what to do at this part?

@ Ibrahim

The adaption of gamebooks for online play cannot just be achieved on demand. Firstly, sufficient-quality gamebooks have to be written and sent in to Andy. Then he needs to invest his personal time in the adaption. Gaetano submitted Devil's Flight to this site at least a couple of months ago, and I believe Andy has been working on this to date. The fact it hasn't appeared yet for online play indicates that the task of adaption is not so simple. It is good to remember that we all enjoy this site ad-free, and that Andy maintains it out of his own good will amongst the other competing interests of his personal life. The ease of play that you and all of us enjoy comes after a lot of hard work by other people, and that should not be unappreciated.

Hi, all,

I hope I'm not breaking any rules here, but I thought some of you might be interested in 'Turn to 400' - the Fighting Fantasy documentary, currently looking for funding on www.kickstarter.com.

"Fighting Fantasy was born 30 years ago, when Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson started a role playing phenomenon. This film tells their story."

The project has the involvement of Ian and Steve and there's some pretty decent rewards for pledging (plus without pledges, the documentary won't get made!).

In the interests of full disclosure, I should point out that I'm not in any way officially connected with the project, but I don't get my cool swag if it doesn't reach its funding goal, so, y'know, I'm heavily biased in favour of it succeeding!

I've placed a direct link at the bottom of this post (assuming I've got that right), or you can just search for 'turn to 400' on Kickstarter itself.

Two dice, a pencil (and a modest pledge) and YOU can be the hero! :)

Hi Everyone, I'm back for an impromptu visit to see what's new. Andy, could we have a couple more gamebooks please? I'd really like to play something before Christmas and I simply love this website's game management engine, saves me from having to do the work and removes the temptation to cheat. I'm currently reliving the classic old days of Infocom Interactive Fiction, anyone interested in that should write me a note at ibrahim(underline)gucukoglu(at)sent(dot)com, otherwise enjoy your weekends everyone, I'll be back soon if I've anything interesting to comment on.
