Hi all! I'm doing the April A to Z blogfest on why gamebooks are great. Today, I have interviews with three of ffprojects contributors - have a look at what they said.
Le Grimoire Publishing was created in 1992 in France and published French Lone Wolf RPG in France since 2007 and many other Roleplaying Games.
We just opened an art Gallery last week. Le Grimoire will purpose unique artworks from great artists as Gary Chalk and Russ Nicholson... 3 artworks are actually available in the GALLERY. In several days we will purpose another artwork from Russ Nicholson, from FF universe: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain.
the team here at Fighting Fantazine are launching a series of illustrated, hyperlinked pdfs of amateur FF adventures this month. While the first title is (and some later ones will be) taken from the pages of the magazine, we'd like to see other non-magazine amateur FF adventures presented in the range. If you've an amateur FF adventure (of between 150~450 references in length) and you'd like to see your adventure possibly included, please get in touch with myself at the following: editor at fightingfantazine dot co dot uk.
Cheers, Alex

Hi.
On audiogames.net recently, one of our members notified me of a site who provide games which, while not actually gamebooks in the traditional sense of Fighting fantasy, lone wolf etc, are near enough too them to make little difference.
The site is http://www.choiceofgames.com/
As you might imagine, these are games that are based on the old principles of cyoa. However unlike the original Cyoa books, (and indeedunlike a couple of cyoa websites I've found online), they are written by serious, professional authors, with the intent that they use the cyoa format to explore characterization and conflict.
Each game has stats, and the players choices alter these stats. The stats are largely what makes up whether you succeed or fail at choices, but rather than being rpg like strength, dexterity etc, the stats are used to defign your character.
For instance, the game choice of dragons, a game where you play as! a dragon has a brutality vs cunning stat, that decides the way you go about life as well as your prowess in open battlee. The game choice of broardsides, a naval themed game set in the time of napoleon, has a reputation stat to determine just how well your fellow navy officers regard you, as well as a loyalty stat to defign your own commitment to king and country.
So, it's characterization that is really the thing here, rather than random choice, ---- heck there are even games in the intreague and romance genre (though romance set around court politics and complicated political power play).
The site choiceof games site also offers the game scripting tools for writing your own games, as well as hosting a good few user submitted choiceof games in addition to your own.
The games are freely available online, but can be bought on several other platforms including Ios, android, and even kindle. Also, as will be obvious from the fact that I came upon these with relation to audiogames.net, they are accessible to screen reading software as well.
Hope people enjoy them, sinse the quality of the writing in those I've tried is great!!
All the best,
Dark.

Hi guys,
I just wanted to take a moment to say hi, and invite people to check out a project I'm working on.
This is a blog for the Fighting Fantasy series, which I had a large collection of when I was a kid. Over time I've wanted to build up my collection again, and intend to do play-throughs of each book as I gather them.
So far we have travelled through 8 of the books, with many more to go. So please join me on the adventure.
Here is the link for the House of Horror game: http://users.telenet.be/Patrick.Jacobs/
Hope you all like it.

Hey there Pat. Got around to playing the House of Horror game. And I'm afraid that there's one gaping problem.....
It won't go past paragraph 1. I've tried pressing space like you do to go through the other menus and tried clicking where it says to, but it won't bloody work!!!!! And the presentation seemed so promising...
Maybe I'm just doing something wrong. But the one thing I did get to see was
SPOILER
the face. Damn, that was a nice touch. Reminds me that this book was meant to be scary.
END SPOILER

@c-star: Click on the big arrow in the hud (it turns green when your pointer goes over it), You will get a little popup-list with all the exits to choose from in it. The game has some scary effects in it, i like playing it in the dark at night ;-)

That's what I've being doing. It won't click, it won't even go green. I've tried pressing tab to see all objects that are clickable, but that doesn't work. Maybe it's just my laptop's problem?
C-Star Mon Oct 8 17:50:32 2012
Could someone else please try the game and see if they can make it work?
Ulysses Mon Oct 8 20:55:59 2012
@Pat & C-star
I tested it and it worked as described.

@C-Star:
I think it's the screen resolution settings, the game sets the resolution to 1280x1024, i did this just to prevent the bug error that you have now, perhaps your laptop can't handle that resolution? Anyway, i will try to fix that asap. gonna try it one my laptop and notebook to see if i have the same prob.

@Ulysses
Can you e-mail me , or give me your e-mail please?

@ C-Star:
It does the same on my laptop, max. resolution is 1280x800. If your screen can't handle 1280x1024, it's not working :-/
C-Star Tue Oct 9 16:18:15 2012
Well that seems to be the problem. Damn. Well I guess that's me out. Back to playing Epic Battle Fantasy.
Pat Tue Oct 9 23:03:24 2012
C-Star, I will add the possibillity to select with the functionkeys.
Robert Douglas Wed Oct 10 15:02:18 2012
One thing I've found with older games: many work only on 1024x768 as their maximum resolution. Not sure why this is. Even then, that these games don't crash isn't guaranteed.
