I found the error in the Paragraph 765 of the online version. The text says: “Your initial SKILL has been increased by two points, but your initial LUCK has been reduced by two points”, but the actual outcome is opposite – the initial SKILL is decreased by two points and the initial LUCK is increased by two points.
The actual effect matches the effect that is described in the downloadable text version of the gamebook, so in the online version the error is in the text, not in the actual outcome.
I have checked myself the downloadable text version of “The Diamond Key” gamebook and found out that the "Make another attempt" option in the Paragraph 404 actually should lead to the Paragraph 413 instead of the Paragraph 414. Please, correct this error in the online version.
It's taken me about 12 months to think of this (or 15 years if you're pedantic or don't observe Death of the Author) but the reason Aria walks into so many total party kills in the first dungeon is because at that point It's impossible to have a PSYCHIC score of 13. Meanwhile in other news the Spanish edition has now been released if anyone is interested.
I found another bug. In the Paragraph 404 the option "Make another attempt" incorrectly leads to the Paragraph 414, which is describing different situation that has no relation to the contents of the Paragraph 404.
I found a bug. The battle in the Paragraph 183 (the battle with the Town Guards) is not working. The stats of the Town Guards are displayed, but absolutely no options are present, so it is not possible to proceed further.
Thanks for writing this book! I really enjoyed it. Especially the fighting paarts. As I have completed this book successfully, I have learnt an important lesson. One way to silence one's enemies forever, is to use their weakness against them. :-).
You have a history with Rocky Horror? In any case I think that room was the Theater of Pain, ripped off Blind Guardian and featuring characters based on Dungeon Keeper 2 and possibly some other stuff.
it was in one of the instant death rooms, not gonna give too much away, but if you've seen Rocky Horror then you know the content i'm talking about. not that it was a bad thing (knowing my history) i just had a skill of 12 and doing so well then bam! i'll have to map next time and my dilemmas usually arise because i never map. it's much easier to cheat and say yes i've won this battle and move on but with a simulator doing it all stamina goes down fast. i just about killed myself for repeatedly failing a roll where i kept losing 2 stamina over a stench, i think? I did successfully complete two contracts, I'm quite sure I did the second one properly, but can't recall if I was supposed to kill him or not so I didn't kill him.
Oh well, I'll try again later, hopefully I'm successful.
Glad to have you back... What reminds you of Rocky Horror, I can only assume It's really Blind Guardian instead. The fanfiction.net version is probably my original, barring the Preacher ending.
Still trying to beat this game! I had a go at it yesterday and kept dying. Dying. Dying! Ugh, this is so frustrating. It's the battles that mostly destroy me. Went into a few instant death rooms too. Wondering about one in particular because it reminded me of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Anyways, my battle continues and I will not cheat and look at the pdf (if they're even identical I dunno )
