Thanks for your review!

'The amount of items needed to win the game is on the line of your "Hellfire" adventure. Personally, I consider it a little too much.'

I honestly thought that there were less essential items in this book, although quite a few were useful.

'Now, about the fourth wall breaking

SPOILER
from what I understand, we are supposed to use past knowledge in our adventure.'

I'm not sure I'd call that 'fourth wall breaking' because that was mean I was speaking to the reader and not the character. It was just me trying to explain why sometimes people would recognise you, and why you would sometimes remember things even though 'you' had never been there. It's just my way of making gamebooks a bit more realistic.

As for the presence. I don't know really, t's just an entity to add spice to the story. As for the good people you come across, well all FF books had good people, but I think that most/some of the good people in this book realise that there's no way out for them, apart from you.

'The last par about this "breaking the fourth wall" (and this one part I hated a lot) is

SPOILER
the questioner. no matter how I try to see and observe the entire map, I dont think ONE LIFE char can know the answers without breaking the fourth wall and assuming multiple runs'

This is exactly why I used the 'ancestral memory thing, so as to be more realistic as to why one character could 'remember' things that hadn't actually happened to him personally. In addition I'm sorry that you hated that segment but I got the idea from the awful Crypt of the Sorcerer and I wanted to take what was a good idea and had awful execution and turn it into a good idea with good execution.

'Makes for my favorite enemy on the entire book, how we can either kill her easily, "adjust and improve" to kill her or just downgrade failing hard on her. Kudos for that.'

Well there was one of 'that' type of enemy in House of Hell! As usual, I wanted to take the idea and make it much better. You may be interested to hear that I originally intended to put one of 'those' types of enemies in Riders of the Storm but left it out in the end: do you remember the graveyard and the line 'laughter rings out suggesting you are not yet finished here?' Well that was going to be the first hint of one of 'them'.

'Also love the

Arena kind of thing, near the end.'

Yeah, that took me ages to figure out. it was inspired by Sword of the Samurai's 'fight pit' section.

Thanks so much for your comments!

House Of Pain
Ok let me see here...

Sorry for the time waiting for this, only now I had time to aftually put all my thoughts into a nice text (real life and being a IT person takes a lot of my time)

First, I didnt really saw any bugs at all.

It took me over 30 tries (dont recall the number but between 30 and 40 tries)

Since there isnt any online version, I could see my opinions in each step, which can be considered as "metagaming".

Much like my review to your "Riders of the storm" I will start with the ribbons (the most equivalent thing to the "Trinitour" calls on your other book.)

The

For exactly the same reason.

Either you can enter their, lets say, "rooms/interesection zones" with the rigth items or you are dead, much like the elementals in "Riders of tne storm". The adventure only gets better with thoses kind of "checkpoints" where you either stop and die or you keep going. Thats a very good thing.

The ammount of items needed to win the game is on the line of your "Hellfire" adventure. Personally, I consider it a little too much.

All in all...

Its the best horror adventure on this site, I consider one of the best adventures on this site.

In terms kf difficulty, I would say your riders of the storm is much to my liking..

Combat wise, house of pain is the best book from you.

In terms of fun, I am very pleased, but I am biased to horror books, sok there is that...

Very nicely written, with a powerfull atmosfhere.

And, for my final comment, nice use of the phobias system.

Impressive!

Aww! I was doing well (I think?) until I fell in a pit and got stabbed in the throat, while failing miserably at some puzzle sequence I totally didn't get.
This is fun, though. I will try again some time.
Congrats to the writers for a truly awesome project. My favorite so far was Richard Evans. The descriptions of sea scenery and aquatic creatures were truly gorgeous and the scenario was intriguing (I didn't really solve the mystery optimally).
Thanks everyone.

New Day Rising
One of my goals for 2019, second only to that demon game Leiber claimed existed in all dimensions, is to continue with this. However I have to say the recent Fighting Fantasy audio dramas have been more inspirational than the second mission, currently at 8000 + words and counting.

William Morgan Sheppard has died - he played crossbow wielding Ranulf in Hawk the Slayer. Perhaps more well known for his sci-fi TV series roles such as Star Trek and Babylon 5, alongside various movie roles, including that of Patch Lovecroft in war flick The Sea Wolves and Major General Isaac Trimble in American Civil War epic Gods and Generals. But I first got to know of him from his portrayal of Ranulf. Recounting to the abbess of when Voltan's wrath befell his village is a fine example acting talent. Try and watch it if you can. Make note of his tone differentiating between deep remorse and anger, his expression, the tearful eye at a love savagely torn away. He leaves behind an acting son Mark Sheppard who I'm sure will carry on the acting tradition. RIP William Morgan Sheppard.

To be honest I had mistimed the cooking of the meat; I had to take out then later oven reheat the veg and stuffing whilst waiting for the lamb. Nevertheless, well worth it in the end! For today (New Year), change of plan: carrots, broccoli, mash, with a few slices of beef. Bit simpler compared to Xmas Day. Oh yes, the starter and dessert will remain on the menu.

@Robert:
Sounds brilliant!
I wish I had the culinary capabilities to whip up anything remotely close to "succulent lamb".

Sorry it's a bit late, but: Merry Xmas to all! Happy New Year for tomorrow 2019! Top of my head, can't remember what is celebrated throughout Titan at this time of the year...
On a side-note, had succulent lamb with the traditional veg, including stuffing, followed by delicious is somewhat chilly ice cream of three flavours (vanilla, chocolate nut, strawberry), on Xmas Day. For New Year's Day it will be the traditional prawn cocktail (with a seafood sauce), followed by a silverside beef course with carrots, sprouts, roast potatoes. A bit (or much) later on look forward to wild forest strudel coated with custard. Cooking of these meals were/will be down to my own passable culinary abilities.

This was lot of fun with very good writing, gameplay and book quality illustrations. I'm a huge fan of the Sorcery! series so it was great to return to Kakhabad.

@bcyy,
Razaak actually commended the hero for taking his/her shoes off before battle commenced.

@Robert,
Well, there weren't tiger mosquitoes in the UK either, so you never know when hookworms will make their debut.
I'm sure that taking off your shoes would result in a skill penalty, not an enhancement, otherwise the character would have done so before facing Razaak.

You don't get hookworm in where I'm from. And my immune system has improved vastly. My Skill and Stamina (Initial) scores have increased by 2 points since going barefoot. Perhaps also an Endurance score? Even Notoriety or Fame score might be affected?
