Hello Ika. In regards to your question about House of Horror,
SPOILER
Near the beginning, you need to try and break out of your room, then immediately attack the man who enters. He will give you the answer to the riddle posed by the guardian of the Star of Ages. When you answer the riddle, the guard gives you the pentagram.
. Just wanna congratulate and praise the job well done on the gamebooks written!
I'm a big fan of LW and FF gamebooks and storyline (Magnamund and Allansia et al.) Glad to see extensions of FF stories here, and brings back fond memories (maybe should replay all the books again) of Scopion Swarmp, Forest of Doom, City of Theives.
Though some titles here are really REALLY diffcult (especially Hellfire; haven't cleared though) they give really good satisfaction upon completion.
Am hoping to see themes similar to "Sorcery!" The spell system is ingenious and awesome!
Yeah, I'm not too sure myself yet. Basically, it plays like any other ff book, but I reckon will have more combat, so the player starting with 40 stamina. Anyway I found out something today. STEVE JACKSON AND IAN LIVINGSTONE WENT TO MY SCHOOL!!!!
A good title is important, but secondary to the plot and the gamebook mechanisms. Can you tell us more about what your gamebook is about? Any special rules/systems you are thinking of? Also, if we know more, it will make it easier to think of titles.
Idea...huzzah! I've been thinking. The 'Mauristatia' ff books 'Vault of the Vampire' 'Return of the Vampire' and 'Howl of the Werewolf' have featured two famous horror icons (The Wolf Man and a Vampir Count). I'm wondering whether a 'Frankenstein' inspired adventure would be a good idea. I'm aware that there have been a few 'Frankenstein's monster' type creatures in the ff books (eg: Arcanum's creature in 'Howl of the Werewolf') but wondered if any one outside the original series has written similar gamebooks. Anyone know any?
hi, i was just wondering would it be illegal to put he reall ff books on here. Because I would happily help you with it.
It would be illegal if the authors didn't give permission - and as they are still trying to sell them I very much doubt that they would. Thanks for the offer though.
Good news guys! Just found out that the wizard series of fighting fantasy hasn't died after all! Jonathan Green is writing a new adventure 'Stormslayer' to be released in september 2009! Hurrah!
Playing The Diamond Key on paragraph 1069, I won four contests in a row, but did only 1 point of damage for the first win. Of course, I died. I looked over and it said "Weapon None," though I had a knife and a Dwarven Warhammer.
Perhaps another bug?
Thanks!
This one isn't a bug, though I admit it could be clearer. The "Weapon" box shows your currently selected weapon, and if it says None you are deemed to be fighting unarmed, even though you might be carrying one or more weapons. To select a weapon you highlight it in the list of possessions and click on USE.
Oops! Think I found a bug. In Beggars Of Blacksand, some goblins stole some gold from me, but there were no other optsions. I was stuck at paragraph 64.
The Trial Of Allibor's Tomb was really fun! I got killed by the goblins, though. Wish I had that garnet! XD
Played the Trog game too, where you are a monster. It was short and sweet. :) A lot of fun.
I found out about Fighting Fantasy while trying to find informaiton about Steve Jackson's F.I.S.T., the 80's telephone game that, I guess, used FF rules. My mom never would have let me call it (would have cost $100's in no time). So, I wanted to see if there was any info in this Age of Information.
Although I don't which book it's from, the picture of the tentacled monster you just posted appears to have been illustrated by Russ Nicholson, so it's probably from one of the following: FF23, FF28, FF 51, FF 55, or FF57. I've checked the books illustrated by him which are earlier in the series than FF23, and none of them have this illustration.
From what I recall, the picture of the town is from Daggers of Darkness and is by Martin McKenna, and the picture of the market is from Master of Chaos and is by David Gallager (not sure if that's the correct spelling).
