Contractual Obligation
Ryan:

Contractual Obligation
If I tell you everything it will take all of the enjoyment out of the gamebook. Many others have managed to crack it, so it's not impossible. The fact that you are able to achieve difficult tasks and yet get stuck on easier ones suggests to me that perhaps you are playing with preconceptions or an inconsistent strategy; in either case the challenges present you with an opportunity to understand more about your own approach and mindset. In regards to the point you mention specifically:

The difficulty in obtaining the tiles was designed to increase in difficulty with ruby tile from the Royal Champion being the easiest (one item, 2 actions required), the sapphire tile from the chaimberlain being harder (2 items, 3 actions). The diamond tile from the Royal Execution was intended to be many times more difficult still with several items and actions required, plus a trap to make the whole thing impossible. However, you don't seem to be stuck on the hard bit yet. The way this gamebook was intended to be played was that a reader would explore, find clues in the descriptions of each area for items that could procide further access (e.g. if something is described as having a coin slot, the player will then be on the lookout for a coin). In this way they would find new areas and items, and succeed as long as they avoided the trap.

I know being stuck is frustrating, but you are asking for much more help than the norm. I would also like to reiterate my recomendation that you play through the series right from the start with the same character, otherwise when you play episode 8, you will suffer a lot ;)

You mentioned you were able to go upstairs, which is a lot more difficult than getting the tile from the champion:

I'm happy to say I managed to get all the way from the beginning of WWGB to the end of CO without any spoilers, but the Hypertrout in particular took me weeks. I imagine that if you happen to get lucky you could complete it very quickly, but if you choose the wrong path, you can keep on bashing your head into a brick wall without realising that

.

In a way it may well be harder for a seasoned FF solver than for a newbie- it's structure makes "normal" methods of solving ineffective.

CO on the other hand is not easy but is far less sadistic!

No, but if you tell me where you are stuck I am happy to give you some clues. I would also recommend playing through the episodes in order because this allows you to carry the same character through, building up your SKILL, STAMINA and LUCK. It also allows you to access secret areas and bonuses. Below is some general info about each adventure.

The Golden Crate has multiple paths to completion, although some are much easier than others. Regarding when to take the escape pod, all options can lead to success, however to access the easiest path you need to:

basically, I'm wondering what to do
cause every time I get to the ending, I get killed
and I just have no clue when to take the escape pods
do I take the pod with the rats or just go myself
and is the data tablet in the captain's office important?

The Golden Crate
Ryan:

I don't quite understand what you are asking, as you seem to be objecting to having to make choices.

The first time you play it doesn't matter what you choose; just read and enjoy. If it leads to disaster, next time make different choices. Then repeat this process until you reach the best ending or are bored with the story.

If you have already done this and are asking for a walkthrough, you can request one from the author, alternatively you can ask questions here about points in the story where you can't figure out what you are doing wrong.

Hope that helps.

The Golden Crate
hey people,
need help with a bunch of gamebooks heh
first with the golden crate I'm just utterly confused
someone tell me what to do?
if I leave in the pods too early I have to chose one of 5 choices, if I leave later I have to go with the rats
and same with hellfire, there are just so menny outcomes
