Halloween time again, folks. Not that I really care for it, but I would like some opinions on what everyone believes to be the scariest/most disturbing FF title.

House of Hell and Dead of night were pretty spooky.

Probably agree with 'House of Hell', although 'Bloodbones' and 'Spellbreaker' also had their moments.

Windhammer Competition
Hi all,

This is just a short note for anyone intending to place an entry in the 2008 Windhammer Prize that the period for entries closes on the 15th of November. So far there has been considerable interest shown in the competition and because of this I do have one request for prospective entrants.

Although it is not an entry requirement I would appreciate it if you have an entry completed at this stage, that you forward it as soon as possible. This will allow me enough time to complete the formatting and webpage updates necessary for the voting phase of the contest.

If you have any questions regarding the Windhammer Prize you can contact me via the Windhammer Prize webpage at http://www.arborell.com/windhammer_prize.html or by visiting the Chronicles of Arborell forum at http://www.arborellium.freeforums.org.

Regards

Finally!

I've finished the first Shadowcaster book and sent it to Andy. It's now on the downloads page. Apologies. My job means that I have a summer with loads of time and no time most of the rest of the year. Since I didn't finish it this summer, I had to wait till now to finish it.

Enjoy! Any feedback will be appreciated!

Stuart
Thanks Stuart, this saves me the trouble of announcing it myself. Since you don't mention it, I will add that this is in fact the first of a trilogy of prequels to Beneath Nightmare Castle.

While we're on the subject of 'Nightmare Castle' prequels, I'm planning on my 'Arborell competion entry' being a segment of my prequel (Which is also a prequel to Stuart's prequel, I know this sounds like a Russian Doll here) featuring Skarlos' visit to 'Scorpion Swamp.' It features some of Stuart's concepts and stuff, so can be read before or after 'Shadowcaster'. Those wishing to play the 'whole book' will, I fear, have to wait a while, sorry. Oh, and since it's a 'taster version' some bits may change to make it more 'stand -alone.' Anyway, well done Stuart!

Oh, and the

Sorry, I just reread that and realised it could be misinterpreted. I'm not claiming Stuart to be a plagiarist or anything, just mentioning I helped. Sorry. Well done again Stuart!

I love them too. I did a Vampire one 'The Wrath of Cain' with a 'Howl of the Werewolf style (ie:As you change into a vampire, you get new powers) which is on the downloads section (Although I'll admit that the plot's pretty linear).

The Hypertrout
Hi everyone.

Since the gamebooks here have an international audience: does everyone in the world call an icy pole an "icy pole"?

One of my yet-to-be-released gamebooks features a flavoured-ice confectionery, and I would like readers to know what I'm talking about

What's an icy pole (Apart from a pole that's icy, or is that exactly what it is)?

An icy pole is a piece of fruit-flavoured ice on a stick. Traditionally, the piece of ice was cylindrical, hence the "pole."

However, I have decided not to shy away from colloquialisms. In general if we read a term we don't understand, we should look it up. That way we all increase our knowledge, rather than relying on bland one-size-fits-all products.

Congrats on 'Soul Tracker' Gaetano, love the gamebook. I've failed several times now, but the style, setting and characters are great.

Soul Tracker
Hi Andy. I got the following error when playing Soul Tracker:
Soul Tracker

UNKNOWN Roll
+ 714 FAILURE
ERROR: Can't open file. This was directly after following the man from the coffee shop and then making towards the building when I was spotted. Please could you fix this as soon as possible?
I've fixed this, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Soul Tracker
Hi Everyone. I am pleased to say that I have now completed Soul Tracker. Thanks for such a good book, I don't want to give away anything so I'll say no more. I particularly like the combatless method of play, getting rid of that tedius routine I think made the story more enjoyable for me at least anyways.
