Hi Kekataag

If you mean a few references around the forties have no content, then I understand. Basically I intentionally made a few more references than paragraphs for fear of running out of references with paragraphs still left to be written. Also, a few contained parts of book 2 (Originally, all three sections were planned as being together in one book) which I deleted. If you mean that by turning to certain paragraphs as instructed by the text, you find the paragraph doesn't exist/make sense then there may be a problem. If this is so, what are the paragraph numbers?

One glitch I'm aware of is that the adventure sheet appears to be absent on the downloadable version. Is this a glitch on my computer's part or on the text? If on the text, if it's easily possible, could it be sorted? If not then it doesn't matter much, since I rarely rate gamebooks on the quality of their adventure sheet, but just thought it was best to check.

Anyway, glad to hear you're reading the Achaeid, Kekataag! Any criticisms or judgements?
The DOCX version is what you sent me, so anyone with whatever software you need to read that format should presumably be able to see the adventure sheet (which I'm guessing was that strange jumble of characters at the start). It did not survive the conversion to Word format. I didn't try very hard to retain it admittedly : if you or anyone else can manage it then please feel free to send it in.

Are the FF books up here fan-made or the officials?

Because none of the ones I have are here.

From what I can tell, I think Citadel of Chaos shouldn't be too difficult as far as your software is concerned. If I recall correctly, you definitely couldn't cast spells midcombat. On top of that, the only spells I remember affecting statistics were the ones that restored your stats, much like potions in other books. Most spells were just given as a standard option in the text. The only potential issues that I could see occuring are a) keeping track of which spells have been used as you could only use them once b) the question of whether people are choosing which spells to take freely and c) the fact that the number of spells you could take was decided by having an extra randomly rolled "Magic" stat.

Hope that was helpful!
It's a) that is potentially the issue then.

Glad you are enjoying the adventure. The information you need is available somewhere. Just try some options you haven't tried before.

I have a copy of The Citadel of Chaos right here, and it says that your MAGIC attribute merely determines the amount of spells you can start with. These spells are then chosen at the start, with multiple 'copies' of spells allowed.
Therefore, an online version would simply allow you to select a number of spells from a list, which would then be carried around like objects and USEd at the appropriate time. As such it requires no adpation of the program at all.

A nice cosmetic change would be to have the spells in a separate dropdown box to items, but the functionality would be no different.
All true, but the issue is whether the gamebook will contain too many spells / attributes / multiple items / other counts in total. Also, you can't USE items in combat which is why I specifically asked about that, but apparently it doesn't happen with spells.

Duffmeister,

As far I could tell from my single playthrough, the missing sections didnt detract from gameplay. However, there are a few grammar mistakes and I found it strange that the text is centre aligned, which looks really wierd.

The writing was slightly dry and awkward, and (as I mentioned before) had quite a few mistakes. I enjoyed the battle with the Minotaur (inspired by the Cyclops fight in Seas of Blood, right?), but on an adventure already so short, it seemed to take up too many sections.

The Hypertrout
Hypertrout is pretty interesting, albeit shorter than the usual. I got a few of the endings, but none of them seem to be the optimal, best ending.

Haoie:

The series was supposed to be made up of short and difficult episodes, but after the Golden Crate blew out to 200+ references, I deliberately wrote one that was as short as possible.
Unfortunately, the subsequent episodes are creeping up in length too. I suspect Episode 7 will be the traditional 400 references.

Hi All.

Has anybody reached the best ending in the Hypertrout yet, or have I finally suceeded in my efforts to create a super-hard adventure?
You'll know the best ending because you get to meet your girlfriend in person...

The main problem I am foreseeing is using the Creature Copy spell. For those who don't know, Creature Copy creates a duplicate of the creature you are fighting that fights in your stead (you must complete the battle if your copy is killed). I don't know if thr software could handle that type of alternative battle.
I think it might just be doable - In The Footsteps Of A Hero has something similar - so long as the creature isn't required to do anything special in the fight.

In general though I would recommend that you not worry about what the software can handle. Just write your gamebook the way you want without compromise, and accept that if I do end up adapting it for the site I will make any necessary changes or simplifications at that point.

OK, I will continue with what I had in mind. I've only just gotten started, though, so probably won't be seeing iy anytime too soon. Also, I am my own worst critic, so I"m probbly going yo do several revision before I'm ready to submit the game. It's a simple dungeon crawl, but there will be quite a few puzzles to solve along the way, and of course battles--it wouldn't be Fighting Fantasy without battles, would it? For the most t part, you won't be able to cast the spells until the text gives you that specific option.

Just so you know, at the moment luck seems to be replenishing itself after use for no apparent reason. (It's happening across the gamebooks).
Thanks. I've fixed it now.

The Diamond Key
2:Ulysses
Hi! Replaying Diamond Key I have noticed that weapon's damage bonuses differ from those in MS-Word file.
For example, it looks like dagger now has Damage bonus 1 instead of 2 and GRIFFIN SOLDIER has weapon with Damage bonus 3 instead of 6. Have you changed statistics for equipment?
If so, can I have a look on updated version?
