You've made it to the final battle! The thing about that battle is:
SPOILER
The creature you face in the battle is determined by how many of the shape shifters you can kill. Since you are facing a spider-man, you must have killed a few somehow. It is possible to kill all of them except for the Merchant Prince of A13, meaning you face him alone in combat. The lethal items or conditions you need are: antique grenades, assistance from in-laws, assistance from a deadly doctor-bot, and spare shots on your disposable blaster.
END SPOILER
Regardless, it's still possible to just fight the battle and win. At least it's not a Death-o-saur.
Usually all weapons are available somewhere early on in the game. It is possible to obtain an energy whip in tGC near the start.
Flow: Regarding your comment about why you want an energy whip:
SPOILER
As I've said before, though, the basic self defence course (or whatever it's called) is simply better. It gives you a +1 initial-and-current skill, which applies whatever weapon you may be using at the time, and to skill tests as an added bonus. The advanced energy whip course simply gives you a +1 to attack strength (equivalent to +1 initial-and-current skill in combat) when, and only when, using an energy whip. Unless there's some 'hidden' feature, the self defence is simply better, and cheaper.
Greetings! I just found this site and took a liking to the first game I tried "Devil's Flight". I was wondering if it is even possible to win this game or if there are no good endings? I only get 4 fear points before I die of fright (7 if you count neurostuff) but it runs out too fast for you to want to fully explore everything. Aside from that and the med kits I haven't really found any use for any of the items either. Best I can do is kill the enemy leader and go down in a blaze of glory. No walkthrough or information on this game either. Any one ever beat this game?
Yes, it is beatable. Could you tell me (using spoiler tags, so people don't have to see it) where you're trying to beat him? Most likely, you haven't got the assistance of certain people.
I'll give you a few hints in different spoilers. I'd suggest looking at only one at a time, and only looking at the next one if you get stuck.
To get the best ending,
SPOILER
you need to get the captain to trust you by finding out his name. If you've already done that and you're now following him, incidentally, just try a few different options right at the end.
END SPOILER
To find this out, you need to
SPOILER
talk to two other crew members on the ship.
END SPOILER
The
SPOILER
people in question can be found in the main docking area, and the cryogenic storage (or whatever it's called), but you'll need to get them to trust you.
END SPOILER
Personally, I always died of lack of options or stamina long before my fear got too high. Avoid things which increase your fear, such as investigating someone who's probably dead, if you can help it, and you should be fine.

My next gamebook has 'Marwa Blues' by George Harrison as the opening. 'Always the Sun' by The Stranglers for end credits.
I am finished golden crate and am gonna start on hell fire now:D

Typed up almost 300 entries for second Sean Calibre gamebook - I'm getting there! This one requires some careful planning so it might be ready by mid-2013 (hopefully).
I've also been busy reading Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Chronicles; partially responsible for my being behind. And now I'm starting his '1356'.
After which (phew!) there's Peter F Hamilton's 'Great North Road'.
No doubt people in 2202 will laugh at my version of the future! Heh, oh well...

Thank you stephanie for this great post
OK I'll put this one back in, given that the subsequent conversation makes more sense when this message can be seen. By the way, nobody calling themselves Stephanie has ever made a post prior to this one, 'great' or otherwise.
I'm sure I saw a completely different post after Robert Douglas's the other day. Odd.

@pi4t,
You did. Must have been removed for some reason. I was a bit confused by what it said, to be honest - I couldn't find a 'Stephanie' in previous posts. To whom were they referring? It probably slipped in from an alternate timeline, where 'Stephanie' has actually made plenty of messages. Bit like something from that film 'Another Earth'.
Or, they probably did it to get us all going....
You never know, but I suspect these kind of overly generic comments are caused by some sort of spamming software trying to find out if the guestbook is unattended. Usually they are filtered out automatically so you don't see them, but sometimes I have to delete them manually, as I did with longchamp outlet's post.
I think Robert Doughlas did this before a while ago. Pretending to be from the past or something.

Plenty of 'trolls' - this is Fighting Fantasy, after all! But no, it isn't me this time. I'd soon own up (and Andy would tell you if it was me anyway). I only did the Duke of Wellington thing as a joke - although I'm wondering what he would actually say (not sure if I got his dialogue right, but never mind) if a gamebook landed on his war desk. Or Leonardo Da Vinci. Or...well, you get the idea. These sort of things do excite me!
I've found the unexploded munition, and destroyed a beam. I've also solved the puzzle in the sphere to the north, which deactivates the beams. Both solutions seem lead to the same ending dialogue, don't continue, and end with the crew of the ship being killed by the passengers. Are there other endings out there? Like stopping the mutiny?
