Yes, you're right. There should be an intervening passage describing:
SPOILER
the conclusion of the fight and a subsequent confrontation with the chamberlain.
END SPOILER
I can't explain why that that got left out, but there it is. Since this is a major error; if I have some time I will fix the text version, resubmit it to the site and request the electronic version to be amended. Hopefully adding in one reference won't be too troublesome.
Entry guidelines and competition timetable now available for the 2013 Windhammer Prize
Arborell.com is pleased to announce that the competition guidelines and timetable for the 2013 Windhammer Prize for Short Gamebook Fiction are now available.
All prospective participants should note that there have been changes to the competition rules and all authors should be aware of these changes prior to submission. Most important amongst these are the provision of a new set of commendation awards, a significant increase in the cash prize pool, changes to the competition timetable, voting rules and how the entry list is presented during the voting phase.
This contest is proudly sponsored by arborell.com and continues in its sixth year as a means to promote the gamebook genre, and to provide exposure within a competitive environment for aspiring gamebook authors. In particular this prize values creative and original works of gamebook fiction. The challenge given to those who wish to participate is to develop a full gamebook experience whilst meeting stringent requirements regarding length and original content. This competition is open to all gamebook writers and requires no entry fee or other costs.
Hey all, apologies if this has been asked before, but I'm stuck in Hellfire and need some help!
SPOILER
How do you get past the burning room with the upside-down man? Both running through and prayer lead to instant death. Do I need an item or is this path a dead end?

The blaster you possess is a disposable blaster and doesn't have enough shots to use in a fire-fight, especially against a death-bot.
To defeat the death-bot, use the following procedure:
SPOILER
1. Talk to the Death-bot, 2. Ask to hug it, 3. Instead of going forward trick it into turning around, 4. Approach the Death-bot, 5. Use the Electronic Straight Jacket you should have got from the medi-bot on the Golden Stream. This will disable the robot.

@ C-Star,
No, the he's the 'hero' of Below Zero Point, a sci-fi gamebook set in the year 2202 (you can find it in the downloads section). I'm halfway through writing the second instalment of the 'Sean Calibre Case Files'....but I'm keeping the title under wraps until release.
I've also got an idea (loosely planned) for the Windhammer Comp. It's very likely I won't be using FF rules, however - perhaps character traits being tested balanced with player's own decisions, and certain items aiding/being necessary to complete the adventure.
Hey I have played this site for a while and really enjoy it. However, I was wondering does anyone know the optimum ending for outsider I have tried everything and can't seem to find anything. the farthest I can get is the point where you get killed by all the assassins.
I think I know what ending you got. That's not the best one. To get the best ending, you need to do onr thing with each of your 3 potential fathers.
SPOILER
1. Become the necromancer's apprentice and resurrect a certain person. (But leave the sewer after you do this)
2. Live with the count and save him when he gets hurt hunting (but leave after that.
3. Become Defender's apprentice, but leave when he asks you to take his place as Defender.
You will fight an extra enemy in the end of the book. If Eddora survives this fight, and you weren't bitten "down there" by the vampire, you will get the best ending.
You can, of course, also just fight the Death-Bot: the fight is winnable if you have a good Skill (eg from boosting it multiple times, as I described above, in Planet of the Spiders ).
