I know kung fu... though in the cold light of day I am an overweight 40 year old with chronic spine and other damage, as well as being bound by the principles of the Shaolin Temple. Back to the ol' black magick I suppose.

So. Back in the day 'Eddora' and I used to lie in her bed in college and at that time there was still the practise of sending child prodigies to university when they were not adult or even barely adolescent - and of course our university was a prime target because of the publicity. The alleged dark elf and I spoke of one 13 year old who had ended up running away, and we agreed how it was a total mistake to put kids in that position. The clue is in the context - most students go to college to find love partners if they even bother doing any studying. Hence the gamebook I based on this relationship was never intended for children as minors shouldn't be exposed to those experiences. Pre adolescent a would have no interest in a love story in any case.

A Shadow In The North
Star - optimum ending reached
There are 2 ways to get to Surlgrad - the high West way where you met the troll and get the crown from the dying King or the low Eastern way where the goblins are.
On reaching Surlgrad though Thrunvir asks which road you took - if you answer the Western road the mage says the goblins are there, if you say you took the Eastern road the mage says that's the one where the king is.
It looks like these dialog options are the wrong way round, the response to taking the Western road should be the one involving the caravan and the King and the response to taking the Eastern road should be the one involving the goblins.
Other than that it's a pretty good adventure and one I enjoyed.
Cheers
Mark

So who here is going to Fighting Fantasy Fest?

For better or worse I have Dudley library DND the day after and Digbeth First Friday the evening before. Do they not aim the brand and the events at children in any case?

There were very few children last time, but Scholastic seem to be making more of an effort for children. We'll see on the day. I know there are plenty of grown up gamebook people going.

There's one tonight. I guess anyone staying over will go to one afterwards.

The one tonight needs an advanced ticket from Event brute and is a pub quiz. It's on the FF blog.

Hopefully it's in a decent rock boozer like the Intrepid Fox - as featured in Behind the Mask.

I live in Canada can't attend this stuff. Does Fighting Fantasy have tee shirts and hoodies out yet? I want one

Hoodies are brilliant. I've been living in this Arch Enemy hoodie since Metal days. At the time I bought it it was the only dry thing I owned.

@Tammy - there were T shirts for the day as part of the adventurers' backpack. I didn't get one as I was leaving my job when the tickets came out and I was unsure as to how much work I would have. Don't think there's any T shirts that you can buy. There will be a new FF book out next year, though!

I wouldn't mind promoting Novacrow either, but I can guarantee I would be sacked. My Facebook might say I work at witchcraft as a mercenary, but, like university girl friend being a dark elf, I made that bit up.

Apparently you can purchase FF t-shirts from Amazon.

@Gavin

???
Is there an economic crisis going on at your end? I always thought we were all holding high-tech nerd jobs, and that we are irreplacable to our bosses...
On another note, what's Novacrow? I may need to brush up my nerd credentials a bit. :-)

I've said too much. I definitely work at witchcraft. That's what happens when you get 2:2, even with an MEng (Hons)0Oxon.

Novacrow are a goth metal band from Wolverhampton though they studied at Liverpool. They are amazing talents and I support their efforts wherever possible.

As for economic crisis though after watching them at Metal days, Megadeth at Bloodstock and Sister Shotgun at Bridgnorth all my cards are maxed out. Alex Sanders supposedly magicked up a vast fortune, but I didn't.
