I recently played Port of Peril, by Ian Livingstone and I quite anjoyed it! There are some bits that I didn't like at all, like the internal art and the fact that you start the gamebook hungry, but with 10 meals in your backpack (!), but I liked the fact that the fights are pretty balanced (there are quite a few power ups around to help you) and that you can explore Chalice quite freely, going back if you want. Overall I think that Port od Peril is not as good as Deathtrap Dungeon, but can be considered at the level of Forest of Doom, Caverns of the Snow Witch, Island of the Lizard King and City of Thieves, all gamebooks that gained the hearts of millions of youn readers, so I hope that Port of Peril will do the same trick once more! ;)
Awesome adventure! Takes me back to the days of the old fighting fantasy books! Love the branching choices of option 1 or option 2 and then the next day, simple yet with added complexities from different items and combos. Enjoyed a lot!!! :D
Seems like a hard ish adventure, which is appropriate for the theme. As far as I can tell, quite luck based as well as needing to make the correct decisions. A lot of instant lose conditions. Will be interesting to see if I can recreate the win conditions when playing again.
Hmm. An interesting experience. Kinda cool with the different lights as different trials, or at least I assume that is how they work. Not sure if I got to the best ending or not, seemed to a good ending, just not sure if it is the best. Will be interesting to see the other comments.
Hmm. Interesting maths puzzle at the start. The ending took me by surprise, not sure if there are multiple endings or not. Quite an interesting twist to the tale.
Well written! Felt immersed in the troglodyte society. The ending was a bit unexpected, but welcome and definitely makes sense. Would recommend. A rather unique experience. :)

The paths are slightly different for the other classes, but not very much.
