The only one I can think of that has you commanding an army at any point is Realm Of The Vampire by Sagi Hed and Doug Riddell. It's at http://www.fightingfantasy.go.to. |

Awesome site, you've done some great work, thanks for everything.
The thing is, I've been playing Hellfire for days now and I think there's a bug in the FBOOK version.
| SPOILER |
Once you reach the last "Boss", Trinitour, he asks you for some rusty gauntlet. Now I've checked everywhere in the game, no rusty gauntlets.
The reason why I think there's a bug isn't so much because I can't find them. I've compared both FBOOK version and downloaded a paper version. In the paper version, the gauntlets are obtained by facing the Shadow Hunter. Only, in the FBOOK, there is a major difference as there is no Shadow Hunter, as the T-JUNCTION just south of the lava river is completely different from the paper version. You cannot cast DISPEL DARKNESS, nothing happens when you do, whereas in the paper version, you are confronted with the Shadow Hunter. Is this clear?
If you could somehow fix this bug, I would be really grateful. Then again, maybe you modified the game in so way or the other and the rusty gauntlets are found somewhere else. Could you inform me if this is the case please, so I don't keep spending hours upon hours to find the gauntlets?
Thank you very much.

I'm happy to say that no, it's not a bug, and it is definitely possible, though difficult, to complete Hellfire.
| SPOILER |
I did indeed alter the game a little around this area for technical reasons. But the location of the Shadow Hunter, and the gauntlets, is in fact unchanged.

Hi, me again!
If anyone has trouble playing through Hellfire, feel free to ask your questions. I was stumped by this gamebook for ages, espicially on the riddle, and couldn't find any help on the internet whatsoever.

Thanks for your quick reply,
You were right, I was mistaken, it is possible to finish Hellfire. Although it is very very very hard.
Thanks for your quick reply, and again, thank you so much for this awesome program.

Hi again,
In Riders Of the Storm |
|
I suspect this is because you received a blessing that reduces the damage sustained in combat by one point. If you still have the URL, could you email it to me so I can check? |

Great site! I've been addicted the last few days. I've played Bodies in the Docks, House of Horror, Outsider and Midnight Deep. Outsider was my favourite - written with wit and style, and it was fun to see the many possible endings.
I used to cheat a lot with the FF books, and at first I thought it wasn't possible to cheat with this program, but I have found a way to do so. ;) What makes it harder online is when you need a certain item or have to have done something to progress further, the text doesn't give you any clues as to what it should be. More like real life I suppose! |

Hi ff team can someone please tell me how to get a spell that can defeat the fire elemental in riders of the storm |
Etienne Fri Aug 20 04:48:32 2004
|
Hi ???
| SPOILER | |
You can get the spell from the Gangees on the boat. When you are given the choice to attack them, do so. They will give you a "Displace" spell which you can use against the Elemental. |
About the losing 0 ENDURANCE. You might very well be right. Sorry ;-)
Did you know that you can use the bookmark function to save your progress? I am not sure if this was to be allowed or considered cheating...
Hellfire and Riders of the Storm are the hardest and most satisfying FF Book I've done. Man, Hellfire was just sooo hard.

I've got a little question for the creator of this awesome program.
I completely respect your decision not to implement using LUCK in combat. However I must admit I am a little curious as to why you made this decision. I would guess that It would probably mean more programming for you and just make things more complicated.
Well, if you ever find the time, it would be awesome to use luck in fights. It would certainly make things a bit easier in some FF Books.
Just a suggestion.
Etienne |
|
Your guess is correct. I just saw it as more trouble than it was worth - I personally never bothered to use LUCK in combat. But several other people as well as you have said that they miss its absence here. |

|
Hi again ???
Hehehe!
God, you have no idea how long it took me to figure this one out.
| SPOILER | |
Ok, the reason why you are being crushed by the Ceiling is that you attacked the old man at the very beginning of the book (when you took the path leading west). Remember, you fought a Fire Sprite at that point? Well, you have to start over again withoutkilling the fire sprite (attacking the old man). |
I'd better warn you, there are still loads of those surprises still to come. I hope you've covered pretty much everything behind that point or you will have start over again and again.
Etienne
| SPOILER | |
PS: One last tip, be sure to use Trinitour often. Using Trinitour is the only way to finish the book. |

Guess who? Sat Aug 21 22:46:43 2004

I just wanted to say Allinor's Tomb was quite simply awesome. Just the right degree of difficulty and just so much fun.
Also, would you mind explaining, if you have the time how to do the whole spoiler thing. That way I can do it myself.
Great program!
Etienne |

You can make spoilers by putting [S] at the start of the text you want to hide and [/S] at the end. |

Hi again,
I've looked everywhere for your name (I'm talking about the person who wrote this program) but could not find it anywhere. So I will refer to you as FFBC (FF BOOK Creator).
FFBC, I've checked here and there on the net and, unless I'm mistaken, the Lone Wolf books are available now online, free of charge.
I was wondering if you had any future plan of implementing other amateur ff books or the Lone Wolf series.
I know I'm repeating myself, but this program really is great. It was good to relive the gamebooks experience, without having so much as the opportunity to cheat.
Etienne |
I don't really have any plans.
Lone Wolf is out of the question. There may be more FF, or there may not. It depends on the amount of spare time I get and the supply of amateur gamebooks. There are not that many more around with contactable authors and simple enough rules.
But thank you very much for your (repeated) kind words. |
